Top 5 Ways to Stay Active in Summer
Posted on August 01 2018
Salam from Hana,
Summer is halfway done and I have been enjoying my time off! It’s really easy to get lazy during the summer because there isn’t a lot to do. Sometimes it’s harder for girls to stay active in the summer because unfortunately, we usually aren’t into sports as boys (we should change that!). I try to be a good role model for my younger sisters and try to show them different ways to move in the summer. I wanted to share with you my most favourite ways to keep moving in the summer:
Zumba is a type of exercise that is similar to aerobics but usually with Latin moves. I really like Zumba because it’s a way for me to keep fit and feel like I’m partying at the same time. When there’s a beat it makes me more energized, and encourages me to push myself to the limit while working out. Time flies when I’m having fun!
Swimming is one of my favourite activities in the summer, and a lot of people might relate to it. During the summer, it’s really hot (courtesy of global warming), and swimming is a way to cool off. I race with my siblings or have competitions, such as diving and collecting the most objects from the bottom of the pool. It’s a really easy way for me to exercise my muscles and stay active.
It feels so nice when the wind blows in my face on a hot day when I’m biking. I bike around the block with my siblings all the time. Sometimes I even bike to the lake with my uncle and older sister. Biking is the easiest way for me to stay active and have a good time at the same time.
This is an activity I enjoy with my whole family. We go hiking together with hiking sticks, and adventure through the forests. This is a fun activity that I like because not only am I seeing beautiful nature, I’m also enjoying it with my family.
Yes, girls play sports too and I love playing soccer in the summer. I usually participate in the Muslim Youth Soccer League and love meeting new friends and playing competitive team sports. Of course, this is a great way to be active
I hope you all have a fun and active summer, insha’Allah.
